Masters of Performing Arts (MPA) is a postgraduate course of two years duration. A student of BPA or a related field who has studied the specialization subject of MPA as core or elective subject is considered eligible for admissions. The selection process varies from institute to institute. The selection is either sought on the basis of merit or entrance test and/or personal interview conducted by the institutes.
Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts
Applicants seeking admission into a master’s degree program usually must have a bachelor’s degree; however, special exceptions can be made. They must also submit a goals statement or proposal. Depending on the concentration of the master’s program, other admission requirements can include a performance DVD, letter of recommendation, and portfolio. Students in a performing arts master’s degree program will receive training in design technologies, production and directing techniques, as well as media and promotion. Common classes found in the MFA in performing arts degree program include:
- Contemporary drama and camera acting
- Media criticism and relations
- Performance principles, acting theory and movement studies
- Script analysis
- Production design
- Marketing
Masters of Performing Arts (MPA): Eligibility
Pass in Bachelors in Performing Arts or related field with specialization as a core/elective subject and minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade from a UGC recognized Indian University or AIU recognized University abroad are eligible for Masters of Performing Arts (MPA) course. Certain universities/institutions may even hold Diploma holders eligible to seek admission provided they have passed any UG level degree with 50% marks in aggregate

Today, there are decent if not immense opportunities in the fine arts sector. Students are aspiring for this career to obtain fame, prestige, and remuneration. Starting a career as performing artist can be a challenging in the start but once one gets established money and fame come gradually.
Postgraduates of Masters of Performing Arts (MPA) can avail career opportunities in areas like art studios, publishing houses, advertising agencies, magazines, films & television, production houses, educational institutions, theater productions and other departments belonging to performing arts. Remuneration is quite subjective and largely depends on upon the personal talent of the artist and on the field is chosen. A good singer/dancer/drama artist can earn up to lacks per performance if he/she has excelled in the field. Working as a freelancer is a good option for many artists. Interested students can also pursue Ph.D. courses in Fine Arts. The duration of the courses varies from 3 to 5 years and can be studied in full time and part time mode.
